Delaney: Sessions Should Resign

Mar 2, 2017
Press Release

WASHINGTON – The Washington Post reported late Wednesday that then-Senator Jeff Sessions spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States according to Justice Department officials. Sessions did not disclose any encounters of this nature during his confirmation process to become the Attorney General. During testimony under oath on January 10, Sessions stated that he “did not have communications with the Russians.”

“Attorney General Sessions mislead the Senate about a matter of grave national security importance which has already eroded the confidence of the American people in the new Administration. Sessions’s continued presence as Attorney General will continue to call into question whether or not we can have a full and independent investigation into the relationship between Russia, the Trump campaign and the Trump Administration. Instead of corroding public confidence in the bedrock of our institutions any further, Mr. Sessions, for the good of the country, should resign immediately.”
